Children's group
Ages 8 to 12. A parent waits in the waiting area.
The children's group is a short class on the first steps of the waltz, foxtrot and cha-cha. It meets on Tuesday afternoon and Saturday morning for 45 minutes, holds up to 10 dancers, and a parent stays in the waiting area. Dancers learn to walk to music, hold a frame and take turns to lead and follow.

What a class is like
- 01
Step 1: Walk to the music
The group walks and stops with the beat, then changes direction when the teacher calls.
- 02
Step 2: A basic step
One step a week, shown slowly and practiced in a circle.
- 03
Step 3: Taking turns
Dancers work in pairs and swap who leads.
- 04
Step 4: A little game
A short game to the music, such as freezing or following a leader.
- 05
Step 5: Goodbyes
Everyone finishes together, and the teacher hands each dancer to a parent.
What to wear and bring
Dancers wear practice clothes they can move in, with hair off the face. Shoes with a smooth sole or socks work well.
