Questions we hear most
Do I need a partner?
No. Every adult class rotates partners, so you dance with everyone in the room and never need your own. Couples are welcome too, and nobody is paired with someone they would rather not dance with.
How do I try a class?
Pick a class from the schedule and book it on our trial page. Arrive ten minutes early so a teacher can say hello and show you where to leave your shoes.
Which class is right for me?
Start with the dance you have wanted to try, or the one you heard at the last wedding. If you are not sure, the waltz and the rumba are the two we suggest to most beginners, and a teacher can tell you where to begin when you visit.
What should I wear?
Wear what you can move in. Shoes with a smooth sole and a closed heel work well, and socks are fine in the first weeks. Ballroom shoes can wait until you know you are staying.
Do I need to stay, and may I watch?
Parents of teens and children may wait in the waiting area, and we invite parents in to watch at the end of each month. Partners and friends may watch the last ten minutes of an adult class.
What is a level, and how do I move up?
Here a level is a dance, not a rank. Your teacher tells you when you are ready for the next dance, and you can take as many as you like in any order. The dances page lists the steps in each.
What are the extras?
Ballroom shoes, an outfit for the spring showcase if you take part, and tickets for guests. Entry to an outside dance event and travel are costs only if you choose to go. How tuition works says what each is for.
How are photos handled?
We ask your written permission before we share a photo of you or your child, and you can change your answer at any time. The family policies page has the full answer.
What if I miss a class?
Message us, and you can make it up in another class of the same dance, or the level just below, within the same session.
How does tuition work?
What you pay depends on how many classes a week you take and whether you choose a membership, a class card or wedding party lessons. The tuition page explains each, and the registration page has the figures.
